I have just gotten word that Shenandoah is not renewing its contract with Turnitin. The current contract expires on 8/2/2012.

With this in mind, it is important that you NOT include any Turnitin assignments in your Bb courses, if you plan to need access to any of them beyond August 2nd. No Turnitin assignments should be created in fall courses at all. All Turnitin assignments, when completed, ‘live’ on their server, and therefore we will not be able to retrieve any materials or information about such materials from Turnitin past our license date.

Note that we still, however, have access to an anti-plagiarism tool, SafeAssign, in Blackboard. While SafeAssign may not have a lot of bells and whistles, it is a much  simpler product to use, both from the instructors’ and the students’ perspectives. Since Blackboard actually owns SafeAssign, and the Bb building block is theirs, all SafeAssignments ‘live’ on our Bb server, and are therefore always accessible.  Support for the tool comes from Blackboard, as well, eliminating any third-party issues.

As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
